Divergence

This post marks the hour we decided to go our separate ways with this project.

Our physical and mental separations have long made work on Creeping Shadow sluggish, when it happened at all, and we have finally come to the conclusion that our visions of this story are too different for any comfortable compromise. While we regret no longer working together, we will still be working, each of us on separate incarnations of CS, and we hope you enjoy whatever we come up with.

We will continue to post our individual progresses here.

Creeping Shadow is a developing webcomic following the relationships and politics of the royal family of Cylevia. The story begins with the arrival of a naïve princess, the fiancé of the Cylevian king. Yet as the family’s mysteries slowly unfold to her, she finds that she has tied herself to a darker fate than she expected.

Some Sort of Progress.

Yes, yes. There has been some progress. No, there's no product, still, but changes are being made so that we can start working on the comic itself by the summer.... The plot has been changed a bit, not much, but certain aspects have been added, and taken away. Names have been changed... magic has been discussed. Now we need to work on the plot from head to toe. I've got the whole team, Stephi and Alyssa to help with that as well. Insight from other people is always good. And its great to have plenty of opinions going, more than two at least. Thing is, Alyssa and Stephi are here at SVA with me. I see them every day. I see Alyssa when I wake up in the morning. (she made dinner for the two of us tonight, it was great.) Nora is at Wells. And Wells is far from SVA.

We do not get to see each other much face to face, which means a bit of a lack of communication. But she's been online lately, which is good. Hopefully it stays that way... because as one can see, progress is being made because of it.... that is, when she responds to me. But yes. Hu-rah.

It's been a while since I last posted any artwork, so I will.

Logo!

Okay so I changed a few colors on this blog. Needed a bit of freshness. Well, not really.

The homework for my Visual Computing class was to design a logo. After a whole week of thinking of what to do, it dawned on me that Creeping Shadow could have a logo of sorts. So the heading of this blog was my homework. *shrug* I was having a bit of a problem with putting it up here, so in a last attempt, I had to change the background of the page to white. I think it looks nice. I also changed the font to match.

On the status of the comic itself, its still in hiatus, serious changes are being made for the better. We're back in the thought and planning stage, and it will probably be a few more months before there is solid script writing or comic drawing again.

Yay, logo~! We're all fancy-shmancy now. All we need now is, y'know, a product. Heh.

But yeah, Allegra basically said it all. The opening scene is in its third total re-write, and chances are the "thinking and drafting" stage won't turn into anything material until Allegra and I both have an excess of free time to spend on it. That is to say, this summer. So... four months to go! Look forward to it.

Time..

Creeping Shadow is on hiatus, if the fact is not apparent enough with the 3 months of inactivity. But there is planning going on in my head... a lot of issues need to be worked out. Conflicts... Communication... Hopefully things will be back on track soon. I can't say when, of course, but soon.

Lydram. Did it in about an hour. He looks more like a bishounen than a scholar here. Oh well.

BApie?

Yes, pie.  My good friend Cat is starting her own awesome magazine called BApie, or Big Apple Pie. I'm sure it'll be great, she always has interesting things to say. Relevance? She had asked me if I could have for her a few pages of Creeping Shadow for her to put in each issue. I agreed of course. Nora should be fine with it anyway. I would have discussed it before I posted this up here, but I'm not big on waiting for her to go online. But in any case, I should have 5-10 pages done for Cat by Nov. or Dec, or whenever the deadline for the first issue is. And if things work out, I may be able to submit to this International Manga Competition thing as well. We could kill two birds with one stone. And maybe with ten pages we could start posting the comic itself. Three birds.

だめです、入ることは。

Reconsidering that whole International Manga competition. Sure I'd love to do it, and it would be great for us to win, but this would be going against the work of professionals. Sure, my art may be closer to professional than other people, but having it done by December is too much for me right now, and on top of that I don't think that the story is quite developed enough comic wise to hold any weight against other contestants. Maybe next year.

Progress in the Sidebar

Alright, work on the comic will now go thusly: I'm going to work on the outline and get as much mapped out in detail as possible, and Allegra's going to draw like a madwoman. Our goal is to have at least 12 pages done (completely) by the end of the year so as to enter an international manga competition (eep). So wish us luck! We'll need it.

Also, Allegra's friend Stephi is going to be helping out! She'll edit the script to make it fit better in the graphic novel format and help Alyssa with layouts. We'll put her info up soon...

PS: I put the progress report on the sidebar, so I can just update that, instead of making new posts. Much simpler. I also added "Labels" to the sidebar; they're pretty self-explanatory, I think. Just to clarify: "real-world info" refers to anything describing what we are doing - I am working on the outline, Allegra is drawing, etc - while "story info" refers to what the characters are doing. At this point, the only thing under "story info" is the family tree, but there should be more there later...

Changes

I'm not in charge of the writing part of this, but I think that the story outline should be completed as soon as possible so that if the story changes so much that the beginning has to be redone, I wont have to get rid of pages and pages of work and we already rewrote the "prologue." Once the outline is completed the script will be continued, and meanwhile I'll catch up to where the script ends.
